Our family trip to Switzerland felt like stepping straight into a postcard — every view more breathtaking than the last. From the moment we landed at Zurich Airport, everything seemed picture-perfect — clean air, polite people, efficient transport, and a sense of calm everywhere.

The country is known for its high quality of living, disciplined citizens, and remarkable cleanliness, and we could feel that from the very first day. Switzerland’s population may be small compared to big cities around the world, but its beauty and quality of life are unmatched. During October, the temperature ranged between 8°C and 15°C, often with a chill in the air. Some days were bright and sunny with a blue sky, while others brought light showers or misty drizzles that made the mountains look even more magical.
Our stay was in Placid Hotel, Zurich City, which turned out to be a great choice. The hotel was comfortable, modern, and conveniently located. The staff were friendly, and we could easily explore nearby areas. Zurich itself is a stunning blend of natural beauty and urban charm — a city surrounded by lakes and mountains. We even took a Zurich Lake Cruise, gliding over calm blue waters with the city skyline and snow-capped peaks in the distance. The peacefulness of the lake and the gentle wind made it one of our favorite experiences.
We also explored the famous Lindt Chocolate Factory, and it was truly a dream come true for the kids and adults alike! The aroma of fresh chocolate in the air, the guided tour explaining how chocolates are made, and the tasting section — it all felt heavenly.
From Zurich, we took day trips to Lucerne City, Mount Titlis, and Jungfraujoch. Lucerne was charming with its historic bridges and lakeside beauty. Mount Titlis was an unforgettable experience — going up by gondola, surrounded by snow and ice, was thrilling. But Jungfraujoch, known as the “Top of Europe,” left us speechless. The train journey climbing through tunnels and snowy peaks was straight out of a movie. When we finally reached the top, the view was mesmerizing — massive snow, strong wind, and endless white all around. It was freezing, yet we couldn’t stop smiling.
We also visited Rhein Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall. It was powerful and majestic, but due to heavy rain, we couldn’t go too close. Still, watching the water thunder down was worth the visit.
A highlight of our trip was driving through the countryside in our rented van with an amazing driver from Prague. We visited Obbürgen, a small Swiss village surrounded by greenery. It was like a sea of green — rolling hills, cows grazing peacefully, fresh air, and a silence that refreshed the soul. We even stopped by Wallisellen, where gentle rain and soft light made the entire area glow. Every moment was calm and scenic — a place where both kids and parents truly enjoyed.
All across Switzerland, we also came across Coop supermarkets, which are present almost everywhere. They are clean, well-organized, and perfect for picking up snacks, groceries, or quick meals during road trips. It’s amazing how even small towns have their own Coop stores, showing Switzerland’s efficiency and convenience in everyday life.
We also had delicious Indian food at various restaurants across cities, which was comforting after long days in the cold. Switzerland’s hospitality stood out everywhere we went — people were polite, punctual, and kind.
Travel Tips
If you’re planning a trip, carry a raincoat or umbrella, because the weather changes quickly. Pack warm clothes, gloves, and comfortable shoes, especially if visiting mountains. Carry local Swiss currency (CHF) — although cards are widely accepted, it’s safer to have some cash. Do not carry Euros, as they aren’t commonly used in Switzerland. And most importantly, take time to breathe in the beauty — the lakes, hills, and the peaceful lifestyle will stay in your heart forever.
From landing at Zurich Airport to exploring every corner of this country, Switzerland truly felt like heaven on Earth — a perfect blend of nature, warmth, and unforgettable family memories.
